Wrought Iron Courting Candles crafted of Wrought Iron in a forge. According to folklore from Colonial days, the Courting Candle was employed by the father of a girl of the age to be wedded; as a time-keeper marking the length of time a suitor could visit. He could adjust the height of the candle and determine the length of time it which it would burn, depending on his like or dislike of the young man who was visiting. Protected by our exclusive Baked-On Finish, the candle holder measures 6.5 inches and will hold a 3/4 inch taper candle. Taper candle is not included.
